Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his first championship for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a former world number one, has had a difficult period, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually progressed in the past month - culminating in a closely contested three-set triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court since spring of 2023.

Success also indicates Medvedev has achieved twenty-one titles at twenty-one various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my both daughters together, so to win a championship is really nice," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six finals, comprising in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive play style and frequent emotional displays on court had caused some to wonder if his ability to compete at the highest level was over.

However the player has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform positively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky opponent, taking four of the final five points to go ahead.

Both players traded break points in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial professional victory, took control to force a decider.

He rescued four early break points in a competitive deciding set before the Russian secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he earned victory with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
