'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith resumes battle with City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he reminisces about the thrilling final moments of his team's epic comeback win against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The game culminated with Galbraith briefly donning a spectator's eyewear amid the on-field celebration.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a powerful strike from distance, and the defender promptly hammered in the rebound before charging toward the home end to celebrate, with the crowd mobbing the players.

Remarkable Recovery

This completed an incredible turnaround given the team had been behind 2-0 deep into the final 45 minutes. Amid the euphoria, there was some unintended consequences. He shared, "There was a supporter trying to get our attention and Josh Key and I were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're people, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The victory earned a upcoming fixture at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith came close against at the same stage of the FA Cup with his former club in February. Galbraith had a prime vantage point when the underdogs took the lead in remarkable manner, with Jamie Donley's first-time shot from about 45 yards going in via the bar and the opposition keeper. Many argued that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've given it to him for attempting the shot from that range," commented Galbraith, who started in midfield before switching to right defensive wing after Orient changed shape. That meant getting to grips with the England international, with whom he swapped shirts, and the attacker was among the opposition who paid tribute to the way his former team played positively.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are very good but even the simple things and simple things, they can just perform consistently," he explains. "It seems as if they always find their target and they understand how to manage and take the sting out of a game. You can believe you're all right and then abruptly they will just thread a ball through a line without you even noticing. You have to be alert at all times of the game. It takes a strong mentality and focus just to remain competitive."

Swansea Move

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to sign him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He became a favorite as a popular figure across multiple campaigns at Leyton Orient and has quickly achieved similar status in his new home. At the London club he linked up again with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his first extended run in first-team action on loan at a League One side from Old Trafford. Then came a temporary move at lower division Salford City, before he moved on from Manchester United.

Development Path

"I was probably a slightly green going into professional soccer. I think many athletes would say youth team games is entirely separate. Sometimes it seems possession is exchanged without serious challenge. There are limited hard challenges. Once you start playing professional matches you have to learn quickly."

Country Call-ups

He has shown that maturation for club and country, excelling for the Green and White Army, who are fighting to qualify for the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has featured in the recent fixtures, including two matches fixtures against a football powerhouse. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's former international manager, gave him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he handles the football and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Humble Beginnings

This represents quite the ride for the youngster from the Queens Park estate in the Belfast suburb, just outside Belfast, who grew up watching his dad, Stuart, also a central player, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's single match for Manchester United came in Central Asia in 2019, a European competition trip to Astana, where they competed on an plastic turf and the venue ceiling was closed owing to conditions of -15C. "This represented a extended travel and it was chilly," he comments, chuckling. "The week before, myself and quite a few of the young lads worked out jointly, so that assisted our preparation. Just to join the main group and make an appearance at the end was amazing."

Departing Old Trafford

How hard was it to depart Manchester United, the club he joined from Linfield aged his mid-teens? "This turned out relatively straightforward, because I arrived at the moment where I realized I wasn't going to make it at first-team level. I'm extremely thankful for the time I spent there but it got to the point where I felt I needed to go my own route, move to a lower level and play professional soccer. Now I'm gradually working my way back up."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has an appointment at 5pm: a driving theory test, another progress toward getting on the road. Until recently to the local area, the young professional was a constant rider in Swansea's so-called team minibus, a team vehicle driven by team personnel, the drivers, which ferries players to and from training and matches.

"It's myself the Portuguese player, the Brazilian, Malick Yalcouyé – Melker Widell used to be in it but has got his license. It's nice to interact with the guys but I'm hoping to be the subsequent individual out of the minibus and on the road. His teammate enjoys practical jokes; he's frequently playing tricks."

Public Engagement

While playing for Orient, Galbraith would blend in with supporters on London's Central line after beginning his trip at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
